There’s been a lot of hot debate lately over whether or not our industry should have access to the waters of Hawaii for fish collection. Many bills have been making their way through the Hawaii government asking everything from complete bans to stricter regulation. This month it was announced that 13 of the 14 bills stalled out in their house and state committees making them moving forward very unlikely at this point.
It’s very unlikely that these will be the last bills introduced, and some anti-collection groups have already vowed to introduce more in the future. I am hopeful after hearing this news that a short respite from the battle may give both sides some time to reformat their fight without using facts specifically weighted towards their side.
